You can also sign the Pet Food Accountability Petition to help make food manufacturers more responsible for what goes into their foods, as well as take responsiblity for consequences.  The only good thing
that will hopefully come of this tragedy is that the FDA will be forced to impose stronger regulations/monitoring to insure high quality pet food
choices for your pet.

As the Recall story was developing, we personally checked into the food making process and found out the following: 

• There are only 3 main Canneries/Manufacturing companies in the U.S. that make nearly all of the canned pet food in the country, Menu and Diamond being two of them. 
• Most large companies supply their ingredients list to that Cannery/Manufacturing plant and then the products are made on their runs. 
• Many companies may share the same runs: after one brand is made another company may run on the same line (the cannery is suppose to clean the lines after each run).

Next, we checked into the products that we carry and found out the following: 

• Merrick Brand Foods uses their own personal production plant. 
• Natural Balance uses a Diamond manufacturing plant that they supply their own high quality food to, and they have their own personnel supervise each run of their foods. 
• Natural Balance does not share with any other food company so there is NO chance for cross contamination. 
• Natura does use Menu Foods for their canned products, which are made in a plant in South Dakota.  Natura, also, supplies their own high quality ingredients and personally supervises their runs.  Natura is NOT affected by this recall.

All  three brands that we carry, Merrick, Natural Balance and Natura,  have told us that they use only the highest quality human-grade food choices for your pet food, and that they all personally monitor exactly
what goes into their food products daily.   Merrick Foods, (which we carry ), and Fromm and Evangers (which we can order in), are all private, family-owned companies that have their own private production facilities and do not use any major canneries.
